About RETHINK REUSE

RETHINK REUSE is an independent group whose goal is to inspire discourse on the topic of reuse; discourse created through design competitions.

RETHINK REUSE began this past year in Pullman, WA as part of the architectural graduate thesis project of Sara Strouse, a student of Washington State University’s School of Design and Construction. After extensive travel throughout Europe and the US she came to the realization that there are a lot of opportunities for reuse being missed out on, particularly in the United States. She then looked into design competitions as a means to develop a dialogue between the design community and public regarding reuse opportunities. Thus, RETHINK REUSE was born with its first competition: “Transforming Seattle’s 520 Floating Bridge.”
